444 - 4 November, 2024

Hi everyone,

The time has come. The first edition of 444!

Thank you for being here.

444 surges into my life when I move with my heart and lean into expression. To honour that, I’m starting this blog series. Every edition there will be thoughts and content mixed with something for me, for you, and for us.

This series will be dropping into your inbox on the fourth of each month at 4:44 to subscribers from wherever I’m sending it from .

Today I’m writing to you from my apartment in Fitzroy North.

I've just landed back home after a week in Margaret River. It's hard finding the words for my favourite place in the world.

My heart expands there. The people are kind. The land's presence is so strong. It's therapeutic. It holds me wherever I go.

It feels like a second home.

4. Me - Releasing

I’m realising that my perfectionism is surrounded by self-doubt.

I’m beginning to shut out the thoughts saying I’m not good enough or unworthy of taking up space.

It’s a familiar feeling.

It’s hard.

It’s human.

I’m learning to let go. A mantra that has been drilled into me is ‘minimum viable product’.

Put things out.

I can progress them once they are in the world. Smartphones. Re-mastered songs. Adaptions. Nothing is ever finished.

My writing will improve if I write to readers. If it’s average, then that’s feedback I can take with me. It’s still better than a project that doesn’t exist.

I’m striving for perfection and noticing that it’s unattainable. I could spend the rest of my days having it dwell on my mind, or I could release it. Clear the cache to allow space for fresh ideas to breathe.

4. You - Prompts

What’s something you’ve been holding onto for a while?

If this was no longer there, what space would it allow you to do?

Something to think, write about, or bring up in a conversation. If you’re wanting someone to share it to, you have a listener in me.

4. Us - From you to you

Last month my friend and mentor Josh loaned me a journal. He needed the pages filled to cover the walls of his exhibition. I carried it with me for a week and had the people I met write inside.

I gave the prompt: ‘write something that will help the next person that reads this’

The results were so much fun. Here are some favourites from close friends, new friends, and dancers from Tessellate-topia.

I am loving this and want to explore this further.

Send something that will help the readers of the next 444 edition on December 4. It can be anything. Words, video, audio, your choice.

You can send it to maxysmoments@gmail.com

I look forward to reading them soon.

Have a great day,

Max

Have this land into your inbox at 4:44 on the fourth of each month here.
